About Us

Welcome to Derusha House of Comfort a sacred space birthed from compassion, built on faith, and rooted in the promise of Isaiah 62:12:
“And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.”

We are a faith-based nonprofit ministry called to serve souls in the places where comfort is scarce, hope flickers, and dignity needs rekindling. Founded in Trenton, New Jersey, at the spiritual bedside of St. Francis Hospital, Derusha began with the humble act of being present of offering spiritual companionship to those walking through the valley of illness, grief, or isolation. From these sacred beginnings bloomed a mission of holistic ministry to both body and spirit.

Our Name, Our Calling

“Derusha” comes from the Hebrew root meaning “sought out” — and that is the heart of our calling: to seek out those the world forgets, and remind them they are seen, loved, and never forsaken.

We are not a church. We are a living ministry of presence, compassion, and sacred service—led by ministers, volunteers, and visionaries who believe that even one act of love can be a lighthouse.
